GCE Advanced Level Examination 2026 - Official Timetable

The Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka has released the official timetable for the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination 2026. The examination will be conducted in two sessions:
- Morning Session: 08:30 AM – 11:40 AM
- Afternoon Session: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM / 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Examination Schedule
⏰ Important: All candidates must arrive at the examination center at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Candidates arriving after the commencement of the examination will not be permitted to enter.
Session 1: Morning Examinations
The morning session commences on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 08:30 AM. Early sessions include subjects such as:
- Combined Mathematics I & II
- Biology I & II
- Buddhism I & II
- Hinduism I & II
- Buddhism I, Islamic Civilization I
- Buddhist Civilization I & II
- Islamic Civilization I & II
Session 2: Afternoon Examinations
Afternoon sessions begin at 1:00 PM and include subjects such as:
- Physics I & II
- Chemistry I & II
- General English I & II
- Economics I & II
- Agricultural Science I & II
- Business Studies I & II
- Information & Communication Technology II

Stream-Wise Breakdown
The examination accommodates multiple educational streams:
- Science Stream: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Combined Mathematics, Engineering Technology, Bio Systems Technology
- Commerce Stream: Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, General English, Sinhala
- Arts/Humanities Stream: History, Geography, Political Science, Languages, Drama & Theatre

Key Guidelines for Candidates
- Arrive at the examination center 15 minutes early
- Bring required stationery and calculators as per examination regulations
- Carry your admission card and valid identification
- Mobile phones and electronic devices are strictly prohibited
- Maintain silence in the examination hall at all times
- Inform the invigilator of any special requirements in advance
- No communication between candidates during the examination
- Report any irregularities to the examination supervisor immediately
