NITF Updates Agrahara Insurance Claim Process: Database Registration Now Mandatory

The National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF) has announced updated guidelines for settling claims under the Agrahara Health Insurance Scheme. The new rules aim to streamline processes, speed up claim disbursements, and improve administrative efficiency by strictly enforcing the registration of members and dependents in the Agrahara database.

Key Implementation Guidelines

  • Mandatory Dependent Registration: In accordance with Public Administration Circular 12/2005(X), for medical treatments or events occurring on or after August 1, 2026, dependent claims will only be evaluated if the relevant dependent is registered in the Agrahara database and approved by the head of the institution.

  • Claims for Primary Insured Members: The claim process for the primary insured member will proceed as usual, provided all standard requirements are satisfied, regardless of whether dependent details are registered.

  • Elimination of Repeat Document Submission: Once members and dependents are properly registered and approved by their institutional head in the Agrahara database, claim payments will be processed directly based on database records. Claimants will no longer need to repeatedly resubmit physical verification documents, such as birth certificates or marriage certificates, to prove relationships.

  • 60-Day Grace Period for Suspended Claims: For dependents whose benefit claims have been temporarily suspended due to non-registration in the system, public officers must coordinate with their respective institutions to complete the registration and approval process within 60 days.

Crucial Advice for Public Servants

All Agrahara scheme members are requested to ensure their personal and dependent details are accurately entered into the Agrahara database and verified by their institutional head to prevent delays or interruptions in future benefit payments.
