Applications Open for UWU BSc External Degree 2026/2027

Applications are now open for the Bachelor of Science (BSc) External Degree Programme 2026/2027 conducted by the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Uva Wellassa University (UWU).

Programme Details

• Duration: 3 Years

• Study Days: Weekends

• Course Fee: Rs. 150,000 per year

• Medium: English

• Mode: Online and Onsite

Subject Streams

Students can follow the degree under two main streams:

• A/L Biology Stream: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and elective subjects

• A/L Mathematics Stream: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and elective subjects

Entry Qualifications

Applicants should have:

• At least S passes for approved A/L subjects in one sitting

• A/L qualifications from G.C.E. A/L, Edexcel (UK) or Cambridge (UK) examinations

• At least an S pass in English at G.C.E. O/L

Approved A/L subjects include Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Combined Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Higher Mathematics.

Mode of Learning

• Weekend lectures will be conducted 100% online

• Some classroom activities may be arranged on campus

• Practical classes will be conducted on campus

• Practical sessions will usually be arranged during pre-informed one- or two-week periods in each semester

The programme will be conducted by a qualified and experienced panel of academics from Uva Wellassa University.
