SLIATE HND Programme Application 2026

 The Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE), operating under the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, has officially opened applications for its Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes for the 2026 academic year. Students who completed their G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) examinations in 2025 or in preceding years are eligible to apply.

Applications must be submitted online through the portal apply.sliate.ac.lk. The deadline for submitting applications is August 3, 2026.

Offered Programmes & Selection Criteria

SLIATE offers a variety of HND courses across engineering, business, IT, agriculture, and languages. Course delivery is divided into Full-Time (weekdays) and Part-Time (weekends) modes.

Applicants can select up to 10 ATI and HND course combinations based on their preferences. Admission selection falls into two primary categories:

Category I: Z-Score Based Selection

• Courses Included: HNDA, HNDBA, HNDBF, HNDE (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics), HNDQS, HNDBSE, HNDT (Agriculture), and HNDFT.

• Selection: Selection is primarily based on academic merit determined by the G.C.E. (A/L) Z-score.

Category II: Marking Scheme Based Selection

• Courses Included: HND in English, HNDIT, HNDM, HNDPM, and HNDTHM.

• Selection: Selection is carried out using SLIATE's defined marking scheme.

Note: Priority is given to applicants who successfully passed the G.C.E. A/L exam in 2025 and are below 23 years of age as of the closing date.

For part-time programmes, applicants must additionally be employed in a relevant field in a government institution, private firm, or be self-employed.

Course Fees & Hostel Facilities

• Full-Time Programmes: Free of charge.

• Part-Time Programmes:

  • HNDA & HND in English: Rs. 17,000/= per semester

  • HNDIT: Rs. 30,000/= per semester

  • Refundable Deposit: Rs. 10,000/= (A 10% discount applies if paid as a lump sum at registration).

• Hostel Facilities: Limited hostel facilities are available for full-time students on request:

  • ATI Dehiwala & Gampaha: Female students only.

  • ATI Ampara & Colombo: Both male and female students.

Step-by-Step Application Guide

1. Online Registration: Visit apply.sliate.ac.lk and review the official Admission Guidelines carefully.

2. Pay Application Fee: Pay the Rs. 1,000/= fee via the Govpay feature on your bank app:

   • Select GovPay $\rightarrow$ Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education $\rightarrow$ Application Fee.

   • Payments can also be made at People's Bank (Account No: 019100203397613 at Dehiwala or any branch).

3. Submit Payment Confirmation: Email the payment receipt to govpay.accountant@sliate.ac.lk and enter the Transaction Reference Number (TRN) into your online application portal.

4. Post Hard Copy: Download the system-generated hard copy of the completed application, sign it, attach the bank receipt, and send it via Registered Post to your 1st preferred ATI.

Key Terms & Important Instructions

• Closing Date: Applications submitted after August 3, 2026, will not be accepted.

• University Admission Impact: Enrolling in full-time HND programmes that last 3 years or longer (e.g., HNDA, HNDE, HNDM, HNDTHM, HNDT-Agri) makes a student ineligible for university admission under the University Act No. 16 of 1978.

• Location Preference: Applicants are strongly advised to apply to the ATI nearest to their permanent address to minimize living and accommodation costs.

• Assistance: Applicants who lack online facilities can visit their nearest Advanced Technological Institute (ATI) for assistance.
