Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language (PGDip TESL)

A 10-month postgraduate diploma with a teaching practicum and portfolio. Completed within the first year of the MA TESL.

Master of Teaching English as a Second Language (MTESL)

A 1-year Master's degree completed entirely by coursework, following the PGDip TESL exit.

Postgraduate Diploma (SLQF Level 8) in ELT / TESL / EFL / Education (English Medium) ✔ Not Mandatory
Bachelor's Honors Degree in English and/or ELT/TESL ✔ Not Mandatory
Bachelor's Honors Degree in Linguistics (English Medium) ✔ Not Mandatory
Bachelor's Degree with Teaching English as a Subject ✔ Not Mandatory
Bachelor's Degree with English as a Subject One year of English teaching experience
Bachelor's Degree in English Medium Two years of English teaching experience or postgraduate certificates in ELT, Teaching English as a Second Language, or Teaching English as a Foreign Language
Recognized Teacher Training Qualifications (NCOE) English language teaching experience (8 years minimum) will be considered
Note: An equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate of The Open University of Sri Lanka will also be considered. Those who have previously exited the programme with a PGDip TESL or MTESL may re-register for MTESL or MATESL subject to GPA requirements and additional fees.

    Pay Rs. 2,000/= (non-refundable) to the People's Bank, Nugegoda Branch. Your name, mobile number, and NIC number must be clearly written on the deposit slip.

    Keep an image/photo of your bank deposit receipt — you will need it to fill in the Google Application Form.

    Fill the Online Application Form

    Complete the Google Application Form available via the official link below. Upload your deposit receipt as required.

    Sit the Selection Test

    All applicants must sit the Selection Test on 1st August 2026. Successful performance grants entry to the programme.
