Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme 2026 – 11th Intake: Applications Open
The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has announced the 11th Intake of the Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme (IFSLS) 2026, providing an opportunity for eligible Sri Lankan students to pursue selected degree programmes at recognized Non-State Higher Education Institutes.
Applications are open to students who sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination in 2023, 2024 or 2025 and meet the eligibility requirements of the scheme.
🎓 Who Can Apply?
Students who have:
Successfully completed the G.C.E. A/L Examination in 2023, 2024 or 2025
Met the other eligibility requirements specified under the Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme
Been selected to follow an eligible degree programme at a participating Non-State Higher Education Institute
The scheme is implemented by the Student Loans Division of the Ministry of Education for Sri Lankan students who have passed the G.C.E. A/L Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka.
💰 Interest-Free Loan Facility
Eligible students can receive a maximum loan amount of Rs. 1,500,000, subject to the terms and conditions of the Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme.
The loan facility is intended to support students who wish to pursue selected degree programmes offered by Non-State Higher Education Institutes recognized by the Ministry of Education.

The 11th intake provides opportunities to study more than 125 selected degree programmes through participating higher education institutes.
