The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has announced multiple high-profile vacancies on a permanent basis at the prestigious Ceylon German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI)!

Here are the positions open for recruitment:

1️⃣ Instructor — 13 Posts (Kilinochchi Branch)

  • Salary Scale: MA 2-2 (Rs. 50,540 - 90,270/- + Gov. approved allowances). Salary as at 01.01.2026 is Rs. 46,960.00.

  • Age Limit: 18 – 45 years as at the closing date. (Upper age limit does not apply to internal candidates).

  • Requirements: * Having obtained an NVQ Level 5 or NVQ Level 4 certificate of proficiency from a TVEC-accepted institute in relevant technical fields (Automobile, Mechatronic, Welding, Electrical, ICT, Refrigeration, etc.).

    • Minimum of three (03) years of industry or teaching experience at a recognized training institute.

2️⃣ Chief Engineer – Production, Services & Maintenance (01 Post)

  • Salary Scale: HM 1-1 (Rs. 140,640 - 202,140/- + Gov. approved allowances). Salary as at 01.01.2026 is Rs. 123,019.00.

  • Age Limit: 35 – 55 years. (Upper age limit does not apply to internal candidates).

  • Requirements: * A degree in Automobile, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a UGC-recognized university, combined with a Master's degree (M.Sc.) OR Corporate Membership in a recognized Chartered professional institution.

    • Minimum of 15 years of managerial-level service in a State Corporation, Statutory Board/Institution, or recognized private company.

    • Alternatively, holding a Fellow Membership from a recognized Chartered professional institution with 15 years of managerial experience.

3️⃣ Chief Engineer – Training (01 Post)

  • Salary Scale: HM 1-1 (Rs. 140,640 - 202,140/- + Gov. approved allowances). Salary as at 01.01.2026 is Rs. 123,019.00.

  • Age Limit: 35 – 55 years. (Upper age limit does not apply to internal candidates).

  • Requirements: Same engineering degree, chartered qualifications, or Fellow Membership as above, along with a minimum of 15 years of management-level service.

4️⃣ Planning Officer (01 Post)

  • Salary Scale: JM 1-1 (Rs. 72,650 - 122,970/- + Gov. approved allowances). Salary as at 01.01.2026 is Rs. 65,633.00.

  • Age Limit: 22 – 45 years. (Upper age limit does not apply to internal candidates).

  • Requirements: * A degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or Economics from a UGC-recognized university.

    • Minimum of one (01) year of post-qualifying experience in planning or project implementation at a managerial capacity in a government department, corporation, board, or recognized commercial establishment.

5️⃣ Secretary to the Director / Principal (01 Post)

  • Salary Scale: JM 1-1 (Rs. 72,650 - 122,970/- + Gov. approved allowances). Salary as at 01.01.2026 is Rs. 65,633.00.

  • Age Limit: 22 – 45 years. (Upper age limit does not apply to internal candidates).

  • Requirements: * G.C.E. O/L with Credit passes for Sinhala/Tamil, English, and Mathematics in one sitting (minimum 6 subject passes total).

    • Completed a Secretarial course from a recognized institute (Polytechnic/NAITA/NIBM).

    • Minimum of 10 years of secretarial experience, with at least 3 years serving as a Personal Assistant or Confidential Secretary in a government department, corporation, board, or recognized commercial establishment.

    • Excellent English writing and speaking skills, as well as computer literacy, are mandatory. (Ability to read, write, and understand Tamil is an added advantage).
