The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education has issued an official directive to all school principals to ensure the complete coverage of syllabi for the 2026 G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) and Advanced Level (A/L) examinations.
In a special circular dated March 10, 2026, Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewe stated that according to the school term schedule and the dates set by the Commissioner General of Examinations, the 2026 exams will be held as scheduled on the relevant dates.
It is mandatory to complete the prescribed syllabi in full to ensure students are thoroughly prepared for these examinations. The Ministry has further emphasized that if any school experiences a delay in covering the curriculum, they must implement a prior plan and utilize extra time to ensure the syllabi are completed.
This directive has been communicated to all Provincial Chief Secretaries, Provincial and Zonal Directors of Education, and Principals of all government and government-approved private schools
